How to not Suck at Compressing Video for Internet Distribution

What to Do

  1. Download and install all the above software. For Lame, extract it, then right click on LameACM.inf and hit install.
  2. Open VirtualDubMod then open up the video.
  3. Go to Streams -> Stream List. Select the one stream there and hit Disable
  4. Go to Add then select your sound file.
  5. Do the next if your audio source is not CBR mp3
    1. Right click your new sound stream and click Full Processing Mode then right click again and select Compression
    2. Select Lame on the left hand side and 44100 HZ, 128kbps CBR on the right hand side.
  7. Get back to the main window and go to File -> Save As
  8. At the bottom on the dropdown, select Full Processing Mode then hit Change
  9. Select XviD then hit Configure. Set it to Single Pass Set Quality between 4 and 8. Lower is Better.
  10. Save the file, it'll render. If the quality is better than/worse than you want, go back and reset the quality and render it again.
